Earthworks Stabilisation and Validation

Permenant works – Validation & Technical Support

Client: Curo – Major Film Studio Development
Project Scope: Earthworks Stabilisation Validation

As part of a high-profile film studio development, the main contractor opted for self-delivery of the earthworks package, including the stabilisation of site-won materials. Given the complexity and critical nature of the stabilisation process, independent technical support was essential to ensure full compliance with the Client’s design specifications and engineering standards.

EBT was appointed to provide specialist oversight and validation of the stabilisation works. Our role was to act as an impartial technical authority, ensuring that the contractor’s operations aligned with the approved design and met all performance criteria.

Scope of Services:

Technical Oversight: Continuous monitoring of the stabilisation process to ensure correct methodology and material application.

On-Site Inspections: Regular site visits to observe operations, assess workmanship, and verify adherence to specification.

Independent Sampling & Testing: Collection of representative samples for laboratory analysis, including strength, compaction, and durability testing.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Close coordination with the contractor, client, and design team to ensure transparency and alignment throughout the process.

Final Validation Report: Comprehensive documentation of all findings, test results, and compliance assessments to support the contractor’s delivery and provide assurance to the client.

Outcome:

EBT’s involvement provided the project with a robust layer of technical assurance, enabling the contractor to proceed confidently with self-delivery while maintaining full compliance with the design intent. The final validation report served as a critical milestone, confirming the integrity of the stabilised earthworks and supporting the project’s progression to subsequent construction phases.

This case highlights the value of independent technical validation in complex earthworks projects, particularly where self-delivery demands rigorous oversight and stakeholder trust.
